Phytomyza - Leaf Miners (Agromyzidae):



Most species in the large fly family Agromyzidae are leaf miners and are responsible for many of the trailing mines seen on leaves during the Summer. Females use their oviscape to insert eggs between the upper and lower layers of leaf tissue allowing the larva to eat the nutritious mesophyll inside.
